Privacy Policy

This policy explains how Smart TV Remote handles your personal information when you use our apps and website. Smart TV Remote is provided by BRANDRANKS BRANDING SERVICES L.L.C S.O.C, a company registered in United Arab Emirates, with its registered address at AL KHABEESI BUILDING PLOT 128-246 - M-02, Dubai, AE ("we", "us"). We are the controller of your personal information. You can reach us at legal@mail.brandranks.ai.

The information we collect and why

Your anonymous ID

You can use Smart TV Remote without an account: we then create an anonymous ID for your installation, so that your settings and purchases are kept. An anonymous ID left unused for a long time may be deleted, with what is linked to it.

To protect Smart TV Remote against fraud and abuse, we keep a security log of sign-ins: when they happened, how, whether they succeeded, your approximate country, your device or browser type, and a scrambled form of your network address.

Purchases

Payments are handled by Apple. We do not receive or store your full card details. We receive a record of each purchase: what you bought, its price and currency, its dates, its status (for example renewed, cancelled or refunded) and a transaction ID. We use it to give you access to what you bought, to handle renewals, refunds and support, and to keep the accounting records the law requires.

How the app is used

We record how Smart TV Remote is used: for example the screens you open and the features you use, with your device's type and system and your app's or browser's version (from its user agent), the campaign or link that brought you, if any, and your approximate country, which we derive from your IP address (we do not store your IP address for this). We use it to understand how Smart TV Remote is used, to fix problems and to improve it. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, or we cannot tell where you are, we do this only if you agree. Elsewhere we do it unless you object.

Measuring our advertising

To understand which of our ads and campaigns lead people to install Smart TV Remote or buy, we measure installs and purchases. On Apple devices we use Apple's privacy-preserving measurement (SKAdNetwork and AdServices), which tells us which campaigns led to installs without identifying you. We work with Adjust, a measurement partner acting on our behalf, whose software is part of our app. It receives an identifier it assigns to your installation, technical information about your device (such as its model, system and IP address) and events such as installs and purchases, and on iPhone and iPad, never your device's advertising identifier: the app does not ask to track you, and it shares nothing it gets with other companies. This follows your choice about usage statistics.

Support

If you contact us, we keep your messages and the details you give us, to answer you and to improve our support.

Crash reports

If Smart TV Remote fails, we receive a technical report: what failed (the error's message and where in the code), the app's version and your device's type and system. We do not add your user ID to it, but an error's message may contain what was on the screen when it failed. We use it only to fix problems.

Our legal bases

Where the GDPR or the UK GDPR applies, we rely on these legal bases:

• Contract: to provide Smart TV Remote to you, give you what you bought, and answer your requests.
• Legitimate interests: to keep Smart TV Remote secure, prevent fraud and abuse, and fix problems (including crash reports). We weigh these interests against your rights.
• Consent, or legitimate interests where no consent is required: to understand how the app is used and to measure our advertising. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect what we did before.
• Legal obligation: to keep the records that accounting and tax laws require, and to answer lawful requests from authorities.

No law requires you to give us your information. Some of it is needed to provide Smart TV Remote: without it, those features do not work. We do not make decisions about you based solely on automated processing that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Who we share it with

We do not sell your personal information or share it for advertising. We share it only with:

• Service providers who process it on our behalf and under our instructions: our technology platform (Brainsforce) and the infrastructure it runs on (Cloudflare, for hosting and content delivery; Neon, for databases); ClickHouse, for usage statistics; Adjust, for measuring our advertising.
• Payment providers: Apple, which handle your payments under their own privacy policies.
• Authorities and others when the law requires it, or to protect our rights, our users or the public; and a buyer or successor if our business is transferred, who must keep this policy's protections.

International transfers

We and our providers may process your information in countries other than yours, including the United States and countries of the European Union. Where the law requires it, we protect such transfers with appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.

How long we keep it

We keep your information for as long as you use Smart TV Remote, and no longer than we need it for what this policy says, except what the law requires us to keep longer, such as purchase records for accounting and tax. Some of it is kept only for a limited time: security logs and error reports: at most 90 days; the usage events and app installs we measure: at most 25 months (the ID that links them to your device, and your consent choices, stay until you ask us to delete your information).

When you ask us to delete your information, we delete it or make it anonymous without undue delay, except: the records above kept for a limited time, until their time ends; a record that it was deleted (a scrambled form of its ID), so that nothing of it is written again; what the law requires us to keep; and copies in our providers' backups, until they expire.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal information:

• In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland: to access it, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, receive it in a portable format, and withdraw your consent at any time. You can also complain to your data protection authority.
• In California and other US states with privacy laws: to know what we collect and how we use it, to access, correct and delete it, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of your personal information. We do not use sensitive personal information to infer characteristics about you, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights.
• Everywhere: to ask us what we hold about you and to ask us to delete it.

To use your rights, write to privacy@tvremote.brandranks.ai. We may ask you to confirm your identity. We answer within one month (45 days under California law), and we tell you if we need longer.

You can stop usage statistics and advertising measurement at any time, in the app where it offers the choice, or by writing to privacy@tvremote.brandranks.ai.

Children

Smart TV Remote is not directed to children under 13 (or under the age required by the law of your country, for example 16 in some European countries), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, write to privacy@tvremote.brandranks.ai and we will delete it.

Security

We protect your information with technical and organizational measures appropriate to the risk, such as encryption in transit and strict access controls. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to tell you and the authorities about a breach when the law requires it.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when what Smart TV Remote does with your information, or the law, changes. The date at the top says when it last changed, and the new version applies from that date.
